Kingston’s gamer and overclocker centric HyperX Impact RAM will be available in frequencies from 1,600MHz to 2,400MHz.
Kingston held its keynote at Computex on Thursday, expanding its lineup of SO-DIMM RAM products and announcing new SSDs and other accessories for gamers and overclockers.
The launch was held on the top floor of the Kelti skyscraper in Taipei, which was dressed up with sci-fi and space themes.
On stage, flanked by dozens of showgirls, Kingston executives launched its new HyperX Impact line of DDR3 RAM. This gamer and overclocker friendly RAM will be geared to users that may have a small form factor PC and is set replace the current SO-DIMMs sold by Kingston under its Genesis, PnP and LoVo lines. Kingston will offer the Impact line at a variety of different sizes: modules will be available in 4 or 8 GB capacities, or kits ranging from 8 to 16 GB. Voltages will start at 1.35 V and the SO-DIMMS will be available in frequencies from 1600 to 2400 MHz.
At an overclocking event later that day, Kingston claimed its new HyperX Impact RAM broke a world record for the fastest SO-DIMM frequency running at 2666MHz.
Pricing and availability for the RAM lineup were not announced.
After the RAM announcement, next up on stage was the big reveal of Kingston’s new SSDs. First, Kingston announced the HyperX Fury SSD targeted towards gamers on a budget. Shipping next week, *the SATA III SSD is available in either 120 and 240 GB offerings and use LSI’s SandForce SF-2281 controller. Kingston also launched an SSD that uses the new M.2 standard, geared towards users on Intel’s new Z97 chipset. It will be available in 120, 240, and 480 GB versions.
