Verizon announces the Ellipsis 7 tablet, will be available from November 7

The Ellipsis 7 is the first tablet that is sold with Verizon branding, and will be available from November 7 for $250 outright or $150 on a two-year contract.

Following a series of leaks, Verizon officially announced the Ellipsis 7 tablet, and has mentioned that this is the first offering in a series of Ellipsis products. The 7-inch tablet is designed to go head to head with other budget Android tablets like the Nexus 7.

Verizon has mentioned that the 7-inch tablet will feature an HD screen with a resolution of 1,280 x 80, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 3.2-megapixel camera at the back and a front facing shooter, 4G LTE connectivity along with 8 GB internal memory. An interesting feature is that the tablet will come with a stock version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Also included with the tablet is Redbox’s Instant service for entertainment, and Verizon’s software suite that includes its messaging client. Judging by the hardware details, the tablet does not look like it is worth the $249 asking price as there are devices like the Kindle Fire HDX and the Nexus 7, both of which are more affordable and come with better hardware features. Both tablets, for instance, come with full-HD screens and better processors, as well as more internal storage.

Verizon’s move in launching its own line of products is a baffling one, as it sells many such affordable tablets at its stores across the U.S. For now though, all we know is that the Ellipsis 7 will be available from November 7 for $249 off-contract, and $149 with a two-year contract.
