Need more evidence Apple’s hotly anticipated rookie wearable effort overpromised and underdelivered thus far? The professional and often spot-on rumormongers over at Reuters have already begun consulting their deeply connected “inside sources” in regards to a second-gen “iWatch”.
And the moles say plans are well underway for an iOS-based spin-off, although they of course have very few specifics on the looks and standout features of eventual Apple Watch 2 versions. Still, an emphasis on health and fitness activities is to be expected, via a growing bundle of pre-loaded sensors and monitors.
For now, we aren’t really seeing Cupertino try to market the Apple Watch as much more than a futuristic toy, with no real, groundbreaking medical use cases highlighted during the thing’s announcement.
That’s probably because Tim Cook & co. want to first address a general, mainstream wristwatch-wearing audience, and only afterwards start covering the niches. The bottom line is health and medical experts aren’t recommending you get on the smartwatch bandwagon so soon, with future iterations of these nifty-looking gizmos very likely to do more practical things better.
