New leaked Intel roadmap reveals new SSD, M.2 push

“August Ridge” gets a*reveal in company’s 3D Revolution presentation in Rome.

TechPowerUp has obtained a storage roadmap from Intel’s presentation at the 3D Revolution conference in Rome which has revealed a new SSD in its 750 series dubbed “August Ridge.”

This SSD will be available across a number of form factors, from 2.5-inch SATA 6 Gb/s, to mSATA and finally M.2. Presumably M.2 will use the PCIe 2.0 x2 link layer.

The 750-series SSD will use Intel’s own 20 nm MLC NAND flash and own controller, instead of relying on the usual LSI SandForce controller.

Intel will launch the 750-series in the fourth quarter of the year, along with four additional enterprise level SSDs: the DC 3700, DC 3710, DC S3500and the SSD DCS3510.
