Lenovo is kicking things off at CES by launching an eight-inch ThinkPad tablet that is aimed at the business user.
Lenovo’s 2014 refresh sees a host of new machines running Windows, the most notable of which is the ThinkPad 8 tablet. This is the second Windows tablet that Lenovo has launched, and the ThinkPad branding means that this tablet is intended for a business audience.
The tablet features a full-HD screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and comes with a 2.3 GHz Intel Z3700 Bay Trail quad-core processor. The tablet can be configured to run 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal memory, with the base model featuring 2 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory. In addition to an 8 MP camera at the back, there is a 2 MP shooter at the front.
In terms of connectivity, there is a Micro-HDMI, Micro-SD and a Micro-USB port. The tablet comes in two variants, one with Wi-Fi only and the other featuring LTE connectivity. The ThinkPad 8 runs Windows 8.1 Pro, and Lenovo is throwing in a free version of Microsoft Office 2013 with the tablet. Lenovo is also releasing a*Quickshot Cover accessory along with the tablet.
The ThinkPad 8 will be available from end of January, with prices for the base configuration at $399.
