Sony announces new 4k home cinema projector, brings HDMI 2.0 with it



With HDMI 2.0 support, the VPL-VW500ES is capable of delivering 4k video at a 60fps, providing smoother playback.





Building on the success of the Sony VPL-VW1000ES, the world’s first 4k projector, Sony has announced the new VPL-VW500ES home cinema projector, bringing the 4k projection experience to home entertainment.

Harnessing the power of its 4K SXRD panels, coupled with HDMI 2.0, the VPL-VW500ES is capable of delivering a DCI based 4096 x 2160 resolution at up to 60fps. The projector also features a new Super Resolution 4K Reality Creation upscaler that has been designed exclusively for “Mastered in 4K” Blu-ray discs to deliver optimal 4K video quality.

Other features include:


  • 1,700 ANSI-lumen brightness

  • 200,000:1 contrast ratio

  • motorized zoom, focus and lens shift functions

  • wireless HDMI compatibility


The VPL-VW500ES will be available in Asia Pacific from this November.
