Asus stirred up some excitement when it announced the Transformer Book T100, and now the Bay Trail-based tablet running Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 OS is now up for pre-order on Amazon.
Affordable, but also useable, Windows tablets utilizing Intel’s processors are hard to come by, and Asus is aiming to crush that preconception that $300-$400 can only afford you an ARM-based Android tablet or a practically unusable tablet running Windows RT.
The 32GB T100 is going for $350, but shoppers can step up to the 64GB model for $399.* Currently, only the 64GB version is up for pre-order on Amazon, although it is likely that the online gadget vendor will make available a pre-order form for the other model soon also.

Asus claims that the T100 will offer up to 11 hours of battery life, which is definitely the focal point of any tablet shoppers—especially those that want to have a device that will have legacy support.* Included with the T100 will be a detachable keyboard dock for full notebook functionalities.
As for features, the T100 sports a 1366×768 IPS touch display, a 1.2MP camera, micro USB port, micro SD slot, and micro HDMI port.
